It can help to understand our imposter thoughts and feelings if we have some knowledge about the kinds of early experiences that might lead us to be more vulnerable to those pervasive feelings of self-doubt. This isn’t about blaming your parents or looking backwards; it’s more about reducing the self-criticism and isolation that often accompanies the imposter experience, by having some sense of the conditions that may have helped to create it.
